２ルーブルのキュウリをください

年末の資金手当てが思ったように出来ないという小売商が多い。来年のペイ・オフ開始もさることながら、ＫＳＤと保証協会がらみの話で、金融機関ががちがちになっている。よほどコミュニケーションがとれているところでないと、例年のように銀行から年末の資金手当てをしていくことが難しい状況にあるようだ。

さて、１０月までの安値をどのように捉えるか。産地の出荷会議で毎度検討される事柄である。

ロシアの生鮮食料品市場に買い出しに来た主婦が、お店の主人に、
「このキュウリ、いくらですか。」
と尋ねると、主人は
「３ルーブルです」
と答える。主婦はもう一つ別のキュウリを持ってきて、
「これでいくらですか」
「５ルーブルにしておきます」
と主人。主婦は最初のキュウリを棚に戻し、
「これを２ルーブルでください」
これはジョークだが、新市場法が施行され、セリ前取引きで相対（値付け販売）が行なわれるようになって、或いは本年度４月以来、どうもこのロシアのジョークのようなことが恒常化してしまったのではないか。

相場は生産者が作った商品価値と、需給バランスによって決められる。卸売会社は、このロシアの八百屋の主人のように、利益（この場合、生産者の再生産価格）を絶えず念頭に置き、販売しただろうか。買い手は良識を欠いた主婦のように振る舞ってはいなかったか。ここがポイントとなる。冗談が冗談でないところに、本年の１０月までの花と青果の市況がある。年末の需要期を迎えるにあたり、反省したい事項である。

Time to Think About the Russian Cucumber StoryMany retailers are financially distressed in the end of this year. Financiers are extremely nervous to give financial assistance because of troubles between KSD and The Guarantee Association in addition to postponed payoffs. It would be difficult to expect the same financial cooperation as usual unless they had a close relationship.

We often discuss with growers about low prices which had been continued until this October. Here is an interesting story in a Russian market. A woman came shopping to a greengrocery and asked the grocer the price of a cucumber. The grocer answered that was 3 ruble. She picked up another cucumber and asked the price for two.
"5 ruble", he said.
Then, the woman put the first cucumber back and said,
"Give this one for 2 ruble."

The new market laws were started operating in July and we also started pre-auction deals. Since then or last April, similar things to this Russian joke have happened quite often. Market prices are based on the goods value and the balance of supply and demand. Did wholesalers really sell their goods always considering a profit? Were buyers really sensible unlike the woman? This story is not simply joke. This is the very point to think about the tone of the market of flowers and vegetables up to this October. It is also one of the points we should look back on now that it is time to prepare for the busy season in the end of the year.
