Art Removes Webs in MindThere is a saying of "Art removes webs in mind", said by Pablo Picasso(1881-1973). This saying urged me to Bridgestone Museum of Art in front of Tokyo station, where I would meet my wife before our marriage. There are some voluntary museums set by successful business men. I would often go to Bridgestone Museum of Art or Ohara Museum of Art in Kurashiki about 35 years ago. This time I was absorbed in the works of Edger Degas(1834-1917), which I was not interested in at all in my younger days. He had a hatred of his works which, he knew, was not drawn by whom he wanted to be. When he became 60 years old, he had to confront with himself. His late works are totally different from what we expect. Those works look unlike his true works. However, those works were the very ones what he has longed to make. He expressed well the feeling of "dying like wind" said by Sono Ayako (novelist, 1931-) on his late works.

I would like to introduce an article about Matsui Securities Co,. Ltd., one of leading internet security companies. President Matsui Michio(48 years old) said "I would compare Prime Minister Koizumi to Tokugawa Yoshinobu(the 15th shogun of Edo era)." He assumed that Mr. Koizumi would be forced to step down in due time and also all cabinet's members would resign although Mr. Matsui hoped the Koizumi administration would last long. What is more, in Mr. Matsui's view, Mr. Koizumi's role is an initial destruction of spoiled conservative Japanese structure towards future. After that someone would appear to take over his position and start reforming a new structure. However, many of political writers assume that it will take three minister's generations to completely reform a new structure. One of the reasons to take such a long time is that each citizen will take time to feel a sense of responsibility. Now that we live in intellectual society, an individual himself/herself is put a high value on, not society or organizations. As the individualism is spreading over Japan, it is obvious that every citizen has to take responsibility even though it will take a long time.
